"From Here To Eternity" is a song written by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. originally released in 2001 as a dance track by Natalie Browne.
The Fizz recorded their version for the 2020 album, "Smoke & Mirrors" but this time as a ballad.
Following in the footsteps of the uplifting Winning Ways and dancefloor filler T.O.T.P., this release sees Jay Aston take on lead vocals in an emotional ballad of strength and determination. From Here To Eternity is especially personal for Jay, who recorded the song just hours after receiving her mouth cancer diagnosis in 2018.
The black-and-white video includes home footage of Jay and her daughter, Josie, at various milestones throughout her life. It also stars 14-year-old sign language campaigner Isabella Evans, who performs the lyrics to From Here To Eternity using ASL – inspired by Jay’s treatment, which left her temporarily unable to speak and fearing she would never sing again.
Over the final chorus, Jay, Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan join Isabella in performing the song in sign language, alongside a montage of home movie clips.
