The single peaked at #8 in the UK but was also a worldwide hit selling over five million copies.

In 1988, British duo Pat and Mick covered the song. It was released as a charity single for Help A London Child. This version, produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart.
