Limahl
Winning the hearts of millions of fans in the 80s as the lead singer of British band Kajagoogoo, Limahl enjoyed the instant celebrity of hitting the top of the charts with his debut single ‘Too Shy’ which was followed by two more Top 20 hits ‘Ooh to Be Ah’ & ‘Hang on Now’ (all of which he co-wrote).
After being unceremoniously (and infamously) kicked out of the band, Limahl struck out on his own and soon re-emerged in the charts again with his first solo single ‘Only For Love’. That was quickly followed by the Giorgio Moroder– produced worldwide smash ‘Neverending Story’, theme song from the hit film of the same name.
2019 saw Limahl re-enter mass collective consciousness when his music was highlighted by three major US television shows. Too Shy was featured in the standalone, interactive Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch on Netflix and also in AMC’s hit anthology American Horror Story: 1984, while Never Ending Story played a pivotal role in the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. The year was capped off with his brand new single, the self-penned ‘London for Christmas’.
Music isn’t the only entertainment avenue he has in his sights. “I’ve spent the last three years in acting class and in Oct 2019 I appeared in my first play on the London fringe called ‘Earthquakes In London’ about climate change,” he adds, “I played the corporate hack, John Carter”.
With TV and performance credits peppering the years between and the recent resurgence including ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, ‘Pointless Celebrities’, ‘The Weakest Link’ and ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time (ITV1)’, Limahl is planning a full-scale return in 2020. Much is planned and the new decade is looking bright for Limahl. “For 2020, I have several live UK & European music festivals already booked” he says excitedly. “I’m also writing/recording some new material, so definitely watch this space”
