Edwin Starr (born Charles Edwin Hatcher; January 21, 1942 – April 2, 2003) was an American singer and songwriter.

Starr had eight UK top 40 hits between 1966 and 1979, most notably, "War", "Contact" and "H.A.P.P.Y. Radio".  "War" was also a US number one.

In 1987 Starr released "Whatever Makes Our Love Grow", a song written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. Despite being released twice it sadly only reached #98.
